Super, Neighbours in British Columbia: Catching trout at Bodega Ridge

My family and I spent this past weekend at Bodega Ridge on Galiano Island, a destination that has become a favourite for us since we first visited last year. I love the place so much that I convinced the owner (Jesse Keefer, who is now on our Advisory Board) to let me figure out how to stock one of their ponds with trout, and 4 months ago we did exactly that. HERE is the series of posts I made in which I take you to Galiano and walk you through the process from preparing the pond to the finale when former Mayor of Vancouver, Larry Campbell, threw the ceremonial first bucket of fish in.

We returned to Bodega Ridge this weekend - four months after stocking the pond - to get some downtime before this 2013 PRINT ANNUAL of ours comes out, and to see how the fish were doing.

While technically it might be the "off season", fall and winter are the most wonderful seasons to visit Bodega Ridge. Along with baseboard heating each of the 6 cabins that they rent out has its own wood burning stove in it to keep you nice and cozy. Each also has a full kitchen, 3 bedrooms, a flatscreen TV and free highspeed Wifi. So while stepping outside your door and exploring gives you the wonder I touch on briefly in the 4 photos below the comforts of home are right there. Click HERE to learn more about Bodega Ridge and if you make a booking with them be sure to tell them V.I.A. sent you.

Oh, and how was the fishing, you ask? I caught a couple of a flyline and one while spincasting. The fish aren't quite big enough to take back to the cabin and cook yet but they're growing, and of course they're fun to catch!
