When I asked Matthew Lazin-Ryder of CBC Vancouver's On The Coast what he thought of my all-time favourite CBC holiday song, Holiday Everything (below), he agreed that this comedic gem from This Is That is "a Christmas classic".

Something else that Matthew and I agree upon is that Vancouver is in need of its very own song for the holidays, and he's taken this conviction so far as to getting the CBC on board to ask listeners for lyric suggestions for a song that will be produced by Jon Siddall.
Matthew has broken the ingredients of Christmas song writing down into 3 main parts. Things typically start with the "scenesetter" verse which listeners helped write last week. This week they (you!) are going to help him write the "conflict" verse and the chance to pitch in and co-write the last verse,m the final "resolution", will end on December 14th.
Once all of the verses have been selected and the song written they're bringing in the one and only Dan Mangan to sing this Very Vancouver Christmas Song which will then be played on CBC Radio! Hopefully they will play it often, and also have a version online so we can share it with you on our blog.
