Vancouver Is Awesome, and we are dedicated to everything that makes it that way.

If you want to read ugly, bad news about this beautiful city of ours, you’re going to have to look to traditional media and other blogs; V.I.A. promotes everything that makes our city awesome, from old to new and everything inbetween. We’re like the human interest piece on the news… only different.

sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the best concerts happening around the city…

What an excellent, excellent week! The String Fling happened (hopefully first of many), Corb Lund, The Matinee, Said The Whale…and more! Just check out the photos below to see for yourself! Hopefully you caught some…if not, this week has more in store!

*FIRST OFF!: We’re giving away a pair of tickets to see the Jon & Roy holiday show this Friday! – All you have to do is share THIS POST on Facebook (click to go to it), or tweet: “I just entered to win tickets to the @JonAndRoy Holiday Special on @VIAwesome http://bit.ly/V0BjgA”

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: you have the choice of two nights of Yukon Blonde and The Sheepdogs at The Commodore – either Wednesday or Thursday. Thursday you could also be seeing Hannah Georgas and Mother Mother at the Orpheum, OR the East Van Christmas show at FORTUNE w/ No Sinner, Zach Gray, Tough Lovers, Gold & Youth, and more! Friday is the Jon & Roy xmas special – with guests Vince Vaccaro, Wake Owl, Frazey Ford, and Kim Churchill at the Vogue, or you can see Catlow and a few other bands at the Railway! Japandroids at the Rickshaw on Saturday is sold out, so if you’re left out in the rain, make sure to come to the Glory Days anniversary party – guest DJ’s including ME at 10pm – all in support of the Vancouver Food Bank.
