sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. With over 28,000+ artists, boasting more than 140,000+ tracks, the CBC Music/CBC Radio 3 web site is the absolute ultimate authority, and the home, of independent music in Canada. With that massive library along with tools for members (free to join!), we’re taking advantage of what they’ve set up by bringing you a fresh batch of music every week featuring local groups who have tracks (entire albums, even!) on the R3 site.

Merry Christmas Eve my friends! I hope you're all surrounded by friends and family (I write this from my home in Ontario with my fam!). I've got a couple of treats for you today...

First up is this years Xmas Playlist! A few new songs, a few old. Covers. Originals. You name it, we've got it. But just in case that's not enough check out this year's Ho! Ho! Ho! Canada playlist on The Line Of Best Fit!

Next we have Kathryn Calder's Christmas song, for which she is raising money for charity, but also, she made an adorable video of kids at Christmas all submitted by friends, family and fans.

See that adorable girl at 2:11 into the video? Yah, that's me. And my brother. And what looks like drunk Santa. Anyways, enjoy!

And FINALLY we have a doozie for you. CBC Radio One's listeners submitted lyrics for a Christmas song called "A Very Vancouver Christmas" and Vancouver's own Dan Mangan sang it (and CBC Music producer and friend Jon Siddall wrote the music!.)

I'm sure you'll get a kick out of what your fellow Vancouverites came up with (though it's funny that it came out just after we got the dumping of snow! But you know it's true.) Have a

Merry Christmas Vancouver!!!
