Vancouver Is Awesome, and we are dedicated to everything that makes it that way.

If you want to read ugly, bad news about this beautiful city of ours, you’re going to have to look to traditional media and other blogs; V.I.A. promotes everything that makes our city awesome, from old to new and everything inbetween. We’re like the human interest piece on the news… only different.

#InTheVillage on False Creek Part 55: We are members of the Gold Medal Club

The Village on False Creek Welcome to In The Village on False Creek, a unique project inspired by Live@YVR and 365 Days of Dining. I’ve moved my family into this community with my mission being to showcase the myriad of things that make it awesome by bringing you a weekly scoop!

My neighbours and I (living in the rental units as well as the stratas) are members of what might be the most exclusive club in False Creek: The Gold Medal Club. Aptly named, it’s located right in the middle of the Village and was the place where our Olympic athletes swam, took saunas, hung out and worked out before and after their Olympic events in 2010. I am currently training in the sport of Hot Tubbing and am hoping for a medal. I haven’t used the gym facilities yet but my wife (and these photos below) will tell you it’s an excellent place to keep in shape.

Here’s the hot tub I’ve been training in. I would’ve shown you the whole thing but one of my neighbours (competitors) was sitting in the left side of it (training) just out of the frame, and I didn’t want to be the weird guy shooting photos of people hanging out in the hot tub.

Here’s the pool that’s to the right. I’ve been training a little bit for the Standing Around In The Pool event, but my strength is definitely in Hot Tubbing.

I haven’t trained for the Sauna event at all, but it’s there.

Upstairs there are all sorts of exercise machines that I don’t know how to use.

And many that I do know how to use.

These ones in the photos above look down on the pool.

This is the yoga room, which people also use as the dance room.

As you leave, if you’re turning right this is the view.

And here’s the view of the walkway that leads into the club. At the very end of this walkway you can see the city-owned theatre space that the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company was going to move into before they shut down operations. It’s nearing completion and I’ve hear there’s going to be an announcement on who’s going to be taking up residence there soon. I’ll be certain to let you know the moment I hear; I hope to start training for Sitting In a Theatre Seat there as soon as possible.

Learn more about The Village at TheVillageOnFalseCreek.com and stay tuned each week as I expose the unique qualities of our new community.
