Vancouver on the Cheap: Storm Crow Tavern

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap".

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

Self-described as a sports bar for nerds, I have wanted to check out Storm Crow Tavern for some time now. I've got no shortage of love for the Whedonverse, the Doctor, Kvothe, and many other awesome things that have for some reason been classified as "nerdy" by the general public instead of "the awesomest things ever."

Regardless, there is now a haven for all us nerds, as well as the commonfolk who want to rub shoulders, and that haven features nerd-tastic decorations, lots of board games, and a super cheap menu!

Every single item on the menu is $6! And the food is truly delicious. I had the portobello mushroom sandwich and it was right up there with some of the best grilled veggie sandwiches I've had - and if you've ever ordered a grilled veggie sandwich in a restaurant, you know that it's always a gamble.

Heads up: the drinks are not all that cheap, but the low-priced food makes up for it.

Seriously, try it out. Even if you're not really into that nerd stuff, it's got the feel of a cozy neighbourhood pub that can be so lacking what with all the new and hip places opening every day. Plus, the cheap food is a major draw!
