Could trades be your ticket?

We've partnered with the ITA to bring you news of their latest initiative to raise awareness about jobs in trades.

We've partnered with the ITA to bring you news of their latest initiative to raise awareness about jobs in trades. If you've been thinking about a change in your work experience or know someone that could excel in the trades programs pass along the news! The Industry Training Authority (ITA) is there to help.

We're proud to introduce Allanah, a skilled electrician in BC. Allanah is currently working on the new Target retail location in Surrey, and shares with us her current accomplishment towards her ticket to freedom in this video below.

“I put those pot lights in the roof of that building! I will think about that every time I pass by the Target..”

Allanah shares that becoming an electrician is the best things that she could have done for herself. Her job satisfaction is high and work is plentiful.

“If you work hard, put your mind to it and have determination you will succeed...”

Tradeswomen report high levels of job satisfaction and increased self-confidence. Many female apprentices onboard with companies have been able to earn higher wages; usually double that of a retail job.

Women are able to participate in apprenticeship programs preparing their endeavors as chefs, plumbers, electricians or carpenters – but don’t stop here; there are over 100 trades in BC to choose from.

The ITA offers programs through the Women in Trades Training (WITT), providing women with valuable hands-on work experience, financial assistance, career counseling, safety training and childcare. Yes, and even childcare, how great is that!

The ITA offers funding through the Canada – British Columbia Labour Market Agreement also known as the (LMA’s). Visit itabc.ca and learn what your next step could be in the future of trades in BC.
