This Sunday August 25th the annual Pink Salmon Festival is taking place in Hadden Park, put on by the Pacific Salmon Foundation (who posted THIS earlier this week regarding it). It's a day of celebration for one of BC's most sustainable fisheries which is often overlooked but is super delicious and most-often super bountiful as well.

All you've got to do to enjoy some of this salmon is to head down there between noon and 5PM and get some, but to celebrate this occasion I decided to go a few extra miles on a trip up to Squamish and catch one of my own!

My friend Duncan came over from Victoria with a fistful of flys that he had tied, which were designed to get the pinks in the river to bite. We walked down this secret path above and found ourselves knee deep in fish in the river. On the way back up the trail we also found ourselves in the presence of a lynx and its offspring, but that's a whole other story.

At a bunch of different spots we visited we landed quite a few pink salmon like this one I'm pictured holding below, and let all of them go except for one which ended up on my BBQ feeding my family this evening.

Head down to Hadden Park and get some of your own, by donation!
