If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap".

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

Another cheap movie night! Cineplex has been running the Classic Film Series series for a while, and man, is it an awesome idea. They select classic movies and show them for $6 a ticket. That's $6, all-in, taxes and everything. Plus, if you're a Scene member, you still get your 100 points for buying a ticket. The participating location in Vancouver is the Scotiabank Theatre downtown, and upcoming they've got Funny Girl (Oct 9, 13, and 21), Out of Africa (Nov 6, 12, 21), and Holiday Inn (Dec 8, 18, 23). Aside from watching awesome old movies for free in the park every summer, this has got to be one of the best ways to take in a classic film. There doesn't seem to be any specific Facebook pages or Twitter feeds to keep you in the loop on this series, so just check in on the Classic Film Series page periodically to see what's coming up.
