Remember local CBC personality Grant Lawrence's Adventures In Solitude, the award-winning title we once a featured as a selection for our Vancouver Book Club? It's one of the best books ever published in and about British Columbia, and I'm absolutely thrilled to let you know that his latest book, The Lonely End of the Rink is now available in stores!
I've just dug in to the first chapter so I can't offer a full review but you can be guaranteed that, much like Adventures In Solitude, it's a memoir in which Grant is positioned as the hilarious and self-deprecating hero of sorts. Growing up on (and in) punk rock, his relationship with this very Canadian sport is not too far off from the rest of ours and, according to the publisher, this book "brings the allure of hockey into a zone where it can impress upon the nerds and geeks as well as the jocks".
