It's almost Halloween and all the goblins and ghouls are starting to emerge. If you’re looking to visit some ghostly spaces check out these events that combine Vancouver’s urban history and historic sites with some good old ghost stories. Some may not be suitable for children so be sure to check with each company before booking.
Mountain View Cemetery - All Souls
All Souls is an annual series of events hosted by Mountain View Cemetery to honour and remember the dead, running until November 2. The family-oriented community events reflect the tradition of many cultures around the world where the days at the end of October and beginning of November are a time for honouring the dead in our lives through ceremony and celebration and the maintenance of family grave sites.
October 30, 7 pm: The demonstration of the sugar skulls tradition
October 31, 7 pm, 8 pm. and 9 pm: The Little Chamber Music Series that Could presents the world premiere of Canadian Nicole Lizée’s latest work
November 1, 7 to 9 pm: Display of the artist-created Shrines for Dia de Muertos and traditional Mexican music by El Mariachi
Until November 1st, Celebration Hall will be open each night from 6 to 9 p.m. for memorial making. All events are free
Judge Dee’s Chinatown Haunted House
Seven Tyrants Theatre transforms the Classical Chinese Garden into a terrifying haunted house. Featuring over a dozen actors, dancers and musicians, this one-of-a-kind experience is inspired by the gruesome stories of Judge Dee: China’s Sherlock Holmes. Not suitable for children. Stanley Park Ghost Train: Monster Movie Mashup
Take a seat on the Ghost Train and travel back in time through the silver screen and into the world of classic horror movies. Stanley Park Miniature Railway

The Lost Souls of Gastown
Join your Forbidden Vancouver storyteller on an adventure through our city’s earliest and most gruesome history. Do not expect a conventional walking tour — this experience is visceral and dramatic. Vancouver Haunted Trolley Tours
For a more subtle, lasting scare, hop on the Vancouver Haunted Trolley Tour for two and a half hours of murderous tales and ghost stories from Vancouver urban history. The tour wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Mountain View Cemetery and the autopsy room of the Vancouver Police Museum. On through October 31. The tour is adults only. Tickets are $40 per person.
