If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

I don't know about you, but I LOVE Christmas. The bright lights, the softly-cheerful music, the nostalgic winter activities. It's all good in this 'hood. Luckily, there are also plenty of cheaper events happening in Vancouver that will help you usher in the Christmas spirit, and many of them are happening at Canada Place. Most of the activities are totally free, including curling (CURLING, people!), and for the kids, Santa's workshop where you can make some holiday crafts. For only $2 (that becomes a donation to the Strathcona Community Centre), you can also go ice skating - with a rental, or ride a mini Christmas train.
