The BC Chicken Growers’ Association and BC Chicken Marketing Board have found that 64% of British Columbians believe that hormones and steroids are added to the chicken they eat, yet this isn't the truth. In fact, the use of hormones and steroids in Canadian poultry has been banned for over fifty years, and a stringent provincial and federal licensing and inspection regime ensures those laws are upheld.

We got to see exactly where the chickens lived (running free around the barn eating, drinking and sleeping), and exactly the kind of awesome care they receive. (For more info click here.)

(Also for a video of the media I went with doing the Chicken Dance in the several layers of protective suit-and-foot-wear that we had on, click here.)

We moved over to Carousel Farms for a BBQ feast, but not before learning some tricks of the trade from expert Rockin' Ronnie in a barbecue workshop, and sampling some great BC chicken.

There was a long table dinner with paella to start during the introductions, and slow grilled chicken from the giant BBQ that had been cooking our dinner all afternoon.
