HUNDREDS of baby salamanders caught on video in Sasquatch Provincial Park

This past weekend I took my little family camping in Sasquatch Provincial Park (Deer Lake to be exact), less than 2 hours out of Vancouver. We sat around a campfire, caught toads, went fishing, and were thrilled to find a whole bunch of baby salamanders about to hatch out of their crazy egg sacs in a couple of the ponds that we explored. Check out this video below.

This is one of a series of videos I've been taking on my Galaxy S5, testing the limits of its water resistance. TELUS gave me the phone a few weeks back and I read online that it was waterproof, so I called Samsung directly to ask what the deal was with the warranty and if I should be encouraging our readers to dunk these things in water. I was told that the phone is ABSOLUTELY 100% NOT covered by warranty for these sorts of hijinks, so I'm not encouraging you to do this UNLESS you feel that the risk of submersing it to get cool videos like these is worth potentially wrecking it. Below are the 6 other videos I've Instagrammed from under the surface of lakes, the ocean, streams and a pool.

I captured this first one in Montague Provincial Park on Galiano Island. Check out the crabs scuttling by.

This one is in Jones Lake of a fish on my line. I let him go.

Another ocean clip, this one is in Discovery Passage in Campbell River. I had no idea there were jelly fish under the water; I just dunked it under there and there they were.

This one's in the pool at Painter's Lodge in Campbell River, shortly after I shot those jelly fish.

Another fishing clip, this one with my wife and son in Horne Lake on Vancouver Island.

And last but not least, a small stream leading into Deer Lake in Sasquatch Provincial Park, a few steps from the pond where those salamanders were.

As I mentioned, TELUS gave me this phone to check out and the crazy thing is that the day after I got it I sat on it and cracked it pretty badly. From the very top to the very bottom of the screen there's a single, long split in the glass. It was after I cracked it that I started putting it in water for these videos, which I suppose is even more of a testament to its durability. I'll continue to drench it until it no longer works, then I'll give you a final report/obituary on it.
