EXCLUSIVE: Official apology from Ministry of Transportation over Malahat Hwy affecting our livability

By now you've heard the news that the Economist has, once again, listed Vancouver as #3 on their list of the most livable cities in the world.

By now you've heard the news that the Economist has, once again, listed Vancouver as #3 on their list of the most livable cities in the world. Perhaps you remember back in 2011 when we were docked serious points and fell from the top slot due to closings of the Malahat Highway? Yes, the highway on Vancouver Island which the Globe POINTED OUT affects nothing in our city as it is hours away, and it's on an island.

I reached out to Transportation BC on Twitter yesterday thanking them for their their recent commitment of $15 million to improve that stretch of road. They responded with their tongue in cheek, apologizing for their part in our rankings drop. Let's hope that as they continue making improvements to that distant, random stretch of road the quality of our lives in the city improves. To heck with the awards, we just want things to go back to normal again! ;)
