If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

We're coming up on the shortest day of the year, and a movie marathon seems like just the thing for a day with so little light. Our friends at Pacific Cinematheque are offering just that with their series of short films titled The Shortest Day 2014. It's an entire day of short film programming, from kids and family-friendly features earlier in the day to comedy in the evening. Admission is FREE and you don't even need a Pacific Cinematheque membership to get in. Just show up and find yourself a seat - you might want to show up early, though. Seating is first come-first served.
