We recently published THIS piece about a group of friends who are part of a growing movement of Vancouverites saying goodbye to downtown condos in order to chip in on renting mansions together. It got us to thinking, how one earth do people even find these places to rent? And then we did a quick Google search and found a local website that is, of course, dedicated to renting out all sorts of ridiculous homes (they call them "outstanding properties"). Below is our guide to 8 particularly fancy large homes you can rent today, complete with prices per room and links to the actual listings that have more photos and info. When you break it down per room the prices range from to $915 to $2,200 per month and if you packed more people into these homes (technically illegal, but from what we have heard it's rarely enforced) you could get that price down even lower. Your next step (after convincing your friends to do this with you) is to get the most respectable looking person in your circle - with the best credit - to apply for one of them, then you're on you way.
