If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

Every spring, Vancouverites can reliably count on two things: the soft, fragile cherry blossoms that line so many streets, and the kick-ass, tough-skinned Terminal City Rollergirls. If you've never attended a roller derby game before, it is well worth your time. These ladies combine the personality and characters that drives WWE with actual skilled competition. It won't take long before you have your favourites, and who doesn't want to cheer for teams with names like The Faster Pussycats, Public Frenemy, and the Penticton Pistoleras? The pre-season double headers start April 11th, and once the regular season begins on April 25th they'll be adding food trucks and a beer garden into the mix. A mere $10 admission gets you two bouts - an entire evening's entertainment.
