Yesterday I got a call from former V.I.A. editor, Michael Tedesco, who works for a company called DDS Wireless out in Richmond. They do all of the software for taxi companies and they've just released an app I think you'll be interested in: Zoro!
If you've been following the story of Uber trying to break through the red tape and launch in Vancouver then, like me, you may have wondered why the taxi industry here doesn't just change things up, step into the present and beat them at their own game. This Zoro app is essentially their attempt at doing that. It allows you to book a (regulated) taxi using a seamless mobile experience on your iPhone or Android device, connecting to a network of over 1000 cabs from more than 10 companies.
