If you use email at your job, this guy can help make your life easier

A couple years ago I sat down for a beer with a stranger named Gary Ross, an editor who has spent the last 4 decades of his life working with words. He introduced me to the idea of The Ross Rules: 10 Ways to Communicate More Effectively, which has since had a hugely positive impact on the way I write. I've been using these rules every day since we met - to inform writing better emails, blog posts, Facebook updates etc - and in those days Gary has become a friend and a mentor.

As an editor you could say he's been "researching" writing and communication his entire career, slowly forming The Ross Rules which he now shares in presentations and workshops with various businesses and organizations across the country. I've been trying to figure out the best way to introduce you to him and perhaps inspire you to bring him in to talk to your organization, but I couldn't find the right angle until today when I came across this video (below). It's the talk he recently gave at Sam Sullivan's Public Salon, and it concisely delivers some of the basics of what he does.

Check out The Ross Rules: 10 Ways to Communicate More Effectively on Facebook and learn more about Gary and his work at GaryRoss.ca.

Also, please note that I broke at least 3 of The Ross Rules in this blog post. I'm still learning!
