For the past year VHF has been working on the Heritage Site Finder interactive map, which plots over 2,200 sites listed on the Vancouver Heritage Register. We're pleased to officially launch it this week at #HeritageReboot, a fun free event where technology meets heritage! Thanks to over 30 volunteers who responded to our call, we have updated over 1500 sites on the map with current photographs. With our web sponsor, SplitMango, along with funding from Heritage BC's Heritage Legacy Fund, VHF's Heritage Site Finder is now mobile friendly so you can roam the city and find out more about local heritage sites. The City of Vancouver will also be hosting the next Heritage Action Plan open house, featuring an online platform for public nominations to the Vancouver Heritage Register.
Join us Saturday, May 23rd from 1pm-4:30pm at the Yaletown Roundhouse, Engine 374 Pavilion at the corner of Davie and Pacific. We'll be there with the City of Vancouver, City of Vancouver Archives, and Heritage Vancouver Society with demonstrations and opportunities to interact with new technology, cake and refreshments, and walking tours of Yaletown with Bruce MacDonald, Gordon Price and Maurice Guibord. Engine 374 will be rolled out of the building for the second time this year as #HeritageReboot is on the same date that the first transcontinental passenger train arrived in Vancouver, May 23, 1887.
