Summer is in full swing. Our bank accounts are being drained for vacations, swimming lessons and day camps (if you could get into one)… The kids are blissfully unaware of our distaste for making lunches in the early-morning (didn’t that stop when school ended?), and don’t understand the stress of trying to get them here and there so that we can get to work. Doesn’t anyone care about the parentals? Yes! Deep breath, Carina and I care.

Bethany is offering up an hour-long family portrait session in Vancouver this fall. Redeemable September or October, you receive an online viewing gallery, slideshow, and one 8x10 matted print of your choice. ORGANIC FAIR SODA SYRUP MIX SET
Moving forward, my good friend Marisa, co-founder of Organic Fair (you've seen their chocolates and other goodies in natural food markets around town) has generously given a full set of her soda syrups for your summer drinking pleasure. Organic Fair's syrups are less sweet and have more flavour then their conventional counterparts -- and because they have so much complexity, Carina and I have fun creating multi-layered cocktails with them. They also make an amazing mocktail and are healthy alternative to sugary soda — a 1 tablespoon serving mixed with 8oz of sparkling water is 40 calories! My kids love the syrups for floats, ice pops and shaved ice -- they are a super fun addition to summer menus.
