Orpheum Theatre and the VSO

The restored Orpheum Theatre opened with a special concert by its new tenant, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Reaction to the refurbished theatre was wonderfully positive. The lovingly renovated and absolutely gorgeous theatre graces the corner of Granville and Seymour Streets. The Orpheum’s iconic mural was painted during the winter of 1975–76 on 24 large canvas panels that were then shipped from Los Angeles to Vancouver before being glued to the dome.
