Know Before You Go: Permanent Bus Routes Changes Start Dec. 19

Starting Monday, December 19, bus routes are changing across Metro Vancouver. Four times per year, TransLink adjusts bus service to better meet community needs and will introduce service to provide better connections to the Evergreen Extension.

About 22 bus routes will change in the Tri-Cities; making this one of the largest service changes in TransLink’s history. View some of the key bus route changes below, or visit translink.ca/servicechanges for a detailed list of all upcoming route changes.

Key bus route changes

  • A new 95 B-Line along Hastings Street provides a more direct and reliable service — particularly for those travelling between SFU to Downtown Vancouver.
  • Newly installed overhead trolley lines along Cambie Street extend the 5 and 6 The 6 extends along Davie Street to provide better connections to Yaletown, Canada Line, and Cambie Street.
  • The C21 and C23 will merge into the new 23 Main Street Station/Yaletown/Beach route serving Beach Ave, Yaletown Roundhouse Station, Stadium–Chinatown Station, and Main Street–Science World Station.
  • Introducing new service to the Dominion Triangle/Fremont Village via the 171/172 a growing commercial retail area in Port Coquitlam, and to Burke Mountain residents via the
  • Redesigned service in Heritage Mountain and Westwood Plateau neighbourhoods better connect communities to the Evergreen Extension.
  • The redesigned 143 provides SFU and Burquitlam Station with a high-capacity articulated bus and all-day service to SFU for students, staff, and residents. 
  • The 701 will extend from Haney Place to Mission. With the introduction of the Evergreen Extension, most TrainBus customers will have more travel options using SkyTrain and the 701.
  • The re-designed 151 provides all-day service on Como Lake Avenue 7-days per week with extended hours to meet the first and last trains at Coquitlam Central Station.
  • The 188 Coquitlam Station/Port Coquitlam Station will now provide 15-minute service during peak periods with larger conventional buses all day, and will run to meet the first and last trains at Coquitlam Central Station.
  • Extended late night service on the N9 between Lougheed and Coquitlam Central stations creates 24-hour service along the Evergreen Extension of the Millennium Line corridor.
  • Discontinuation of the “C” (C24/C25/C26/C27/C28/C29/C30/C36/C37/C38/C40)

    Community Shuttle buses across the Tri-Cities are being renamed to no longer have the “C”. Customers can now board any bus with their route number on it, regardless of the type of bus that stops.

The now opened Evergreen Extension extends the Millennium Line to Coquitlam, through Burnaby and Port Moody, making Vancouver more connected than ever before. As a result, there will be changes to bus routes in the Tri-Cities starting December 19th.
