When the library at 750 Burrard became unable to support the volume of users, the call went out for a new, bigger library. These are two rejected proposals for the design of the library, ultimately won by Moshe Safdie, Richard Archambault and Barry Downs, resulting in the unique Colosseum inspired building at 350 West Georgia.
