Photojournalism in the Digital Age

What is the value of a photo in a world where practically everyone has access to a camera? Is a negative inherently more authentic than a pixel? These are just some of the questions that will be discussed at the Museum of Vancouver’s upcoming Happy H

These are just some of the questions that will be discussed at the Museum of Vancouver’s upcoming Happy Hour panel, I Witness: The Shifting Focus of Photojournalism in the Digital Age.

Serving as an extension of the Vancouver in the Seventies photo exhibition, the panel will discuss the historical significance of journalism’s shift from film to digital photography and pose the question, has digital photography compromised the work of photojournalism?

The panel will consist of Photojournalists Rebecca Blissett, Gerry Kahrmann, Richard Lam, and John Lehmann and will be moderated by Burnaby Now journalist, Jennifer Moreau.

In addition to the frank discussion on the future of journalism, there will be drinks served throughout the evening. You can register for the event HERE.
