Thunderbird Dynasty Pole

Carved by Chief Joe Capilano of North Vancouver, the Thunderbird Dynasty Pole was dedicated in 1936 at Prospect Point in Stanley Park. It was erected to commemorate the fateful meeting of the Squamish people and Captain George Vancouver on June 12, 1792. The pole was a popular tourist destination until it succumbed to carpenter ants.
