Transforming 81lbs of “Textile Waste” into Runway Ready Fashion

The 81lb Challenge presented by Value Village is a fashion collection created from a year's worth of discarded clothing that urges the industry and consumers to rethink and reuse textiles, rather than discard and buy new.

The 81lb Challenge presented by Value Village is a fashion collection created from a year's worth of discarded clothing that urges the industry and consumers to rethink and reuse textiles, rather than discard and buy new.

From March 30 – April 17, Project Runway season one winner Evan Biddell will showcase a collection of garments made entirely of repurposed, reconstructed and recycled textile waste at the Museum of Vancouver. The exhibition is part of Eco Fashion Week, a Vancouver based non-profit that advocates for a more socially and environmentally responsible Fashion industry.

In addition to displaying his collection, which graced the runway in Toronto earlier this month, Evan Biddell will also take part in Q+A alongside internationally renowned stylist Ellen Balsevich on April 2nd. Moderated by Kelsey Dundon (editor of The Anthology), the event will cover 81lb Challenge, Biddell’s collection and the reality that fashion is the second-most-polluting industry next only to oil!
