Emily Carr
Portrait of the artist. As a young artist, Emily Carr taught art classes in Vancouver from 1906 to 1910. After spending time in France, she returned in 1912 to paint and to continue teaching. Reception of her work was mixed and, for mainly financial reasons, she moved back to Victoria in 1913.
