What better way to celebrate summer in downtown Vancouver than with a FREE Friday lunchtime exploration outside the office? Join us today, or throughout July and August, for a walking tour of West Hastings street's heritage and history. Whether you are out for the day or work nearby, all are welcome to attend, but be sure to register starting at 12pm. And, if you have always wanted to linger after work to catch the best light, join us for a NEW architectural photography workshop on Thursday, July 20th- details below. Join a free 45-minute lunchtime tour of West Hastings Street with guide and historian, John Atkin. The West Hastings corridor has long been an important one in Vancouver. With a diverse history of “temple” banks and private clubs, a once thriving fashion district and remarkable architecture ranging from the early 1900s to the Modern movement in the 1960s and 70s, West Hastings Street offers intriguing stories at every corner.

All tours are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be at Lot 19, at the foot of Hornby St. at W Hastings St, starting at 12pm each tour date.

Capturing the significance and beauty of historic buildings can be a challenge, but a rewarding one. With over 15 years of experience with architectural photography, professional photographer Martin Knowles leads a free tour to view several historic buildings along the West Hastings Street corridor and offers his experience in how to balance scale, find the best light and work with contrast to create stunning images of classic architecture. Learn the tips and tricks that will take your images from holiday snaps to works of art. This workshop is open to all skill levels. Please bring your own camera or device and any other equipment you would like to use.

The workshop will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be at Lot 19, at the foot of Hornby Street at W Hastings Street, starting at 4:45pm.
