VHF’s annual fall fundraiser City Drinks returns on October 3rd, hosted this year at the historic Vancouver Club on West Hastings Street. Established in 1889, The Vancouver Club sits in the heart of Vancouver’s financial district past and present. Membership has changed over the years from exclusively male, many residing in nearby “Blueblood Alley” of the young city, to today’s lively mix of business professionals. The current building was erected in 1913 by renowned architectural firm Sharp & Thompson and designed to resemble a London gentleman’s club of the Victorian era. The club is a proud steward of the building and its history which remains a landmark on a street with its fair share of significant heritage buildings.
We invite you to join us for a special evening in this private heritage venue, not usually open to the public. Guests will have the opportunity to take a tour through the historic spaces in the club, enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres and a good dose of history, along with music from celebrated local jazz performer Andrea Superstein. A silent auction of items and experiences donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals will round out the evening and you will learn about the history of the club with author and artist Michael Kluckner.
