20 dogs living in squalid conditions at a Chilliwack property are now in the care of the BC SPCA following the execution of a search warrant on a breeder.
Most of the dogs were still puppies, estimated to be anywhere from one day to six months old, all bred for quick sale through area brokers, according to the BC SPCA.
"The dogs were all small, popular breeds that can be brokered easily – Maltese-yorkie crosses, Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Papillion and Pekingese," says Marcie Moriarty, chief prevention and enforcement officer for the BC SPCA via media release.

Sadly, the dogs were found soaked in urine with matted fur and long nails, and some of the older pups will need "extensive dental surgery."
All of the animals have now been surrendered to the BC SPCA voluntarily, and are receiving professional medical care.
The BC SPCA has some of the dogs from the seizure at various facilities in the region, while others are in SPCA foster homes.
