Vancouver gets its first-ever Ferment Fest

Fermented foods aren't new by a long stretch, but they certainly are on trend right now.

Fermented foods aren't new by a long stretch, but they certainly are on trend right now. From the gut health goodness of kombucha on tap city-wide to small local companies like Tempea getting locals tapped into tempeh, the age-old tradition of fermenting foods is shaking up how we eat these days.

Now some of Vancouver's most-loved fermented food producers are working together to offer the city's first-ever Ferment Fest.

A project of Mixers & Elixirs (they make drinking vinegars called shrubs) and Tempea Foods (they make fresh tempeh), and Piquant Marketing, Ferment Fest Vancouver will showcase more than a dozen local brands in one place, for one low admission fee ($3).

On Sunday, October 22, fans of fermented foods will have the chance to taste the wares and talk to the innovators of businesses like Oddity Kombucha, Spread 'Em Kitchen, Naked Coconuts, Temple Soda, Biota Fermentation, organizers Mixers & Elixirs and Tempea Foods, and more.

We’ve really seen a surge in demand for fermented foods on the market so a Fermentation Festival just made sense. Plus most people are surprised to learn how many of their favourite foods are fermented!” says Tempea Foods Co-Founder Ariela Badenas via media release.

Go get your good gut bacteria on this inaugural event!
