The median rental price for a one-bedroom apartment in Vancouver has gone up by five per cent in the last month, according to the latest report by PadMapper.

The apartment listing website, which releases a monthly report on rental rates across Canada, says the median price of a one-bedroom apartment in Vancouver is now $2,120 per month.

Vancouver continues to be the most expensive rental market in the country, followed by Toronto, where the average one-bedroom rent is now $1,940 per month. This is in stark contrast to the median rental price of $1,020 for a one-bedroom home in Halifax and Hamilton, Ont., which share 10th place on the PadMapper report.

The latest increase will come as no surprise to those following Vancouver’s rental housing market. Despite being voted as one of the world’s “most liveable” cities, the median rental listing price of a one apartment has risen almost 16 per cent since last October.

Meanwhile, the rent for a two-bedroom has risen 14 per cent in the same period, to $3,200.
