Real life Mario Kart racing is coming to Vancouver

Live out your video game fantasy: Real life Mario Kart racing is coming to Vancouver this summer.

File this under yet another pop culture pop-up summer event that melds childhood imagination with grown up fun: Real life Mario Kart racing is coming to Vancouver this summer.

It's basically being described by organizers as what you would imagine: Go Kart racing with a Mario Kart-themed twist.

"A unique experience that combines your favourite characters, friends and new friends for a driving experience that will take you back in time. On the race day,  you'll be able to pick your favourite character, drive courses dressed as them, and have the opportunity to collect stars to win prizes," touts their website.

In their email to us with the pitch and link to their site, organizers don't identify themselves as the Aussies behind the other upcoming stunt-like summer events like the Harry Potter brunch, Lego Bar, boozy ball pit party, or hot tub cinema, however the website is set up the same as those other events, as is the disclaimer that they are not affiliated with the actual Mario Kart or Nintendo.

And the process is the same, too: Enter your email into their database to get on the list to be notified when tickets become available.

So either we are all being trolled and sharing our email addresses or these event organizers are ready to really shake up several North American and Australian cities this year with some innovative events. The organizers did not reply to our recent request for an interview.

In any case, if you do want to give your email address over for info on the Mario Kart event, you'll need to head over to their website. The Vancouver event date is TBA.
