This guy created "the largest Rice Krispie square in Canada"

Tristin Hopper is a reporter whose name you're familiar with if you read the National Post. Most know this Edmontonian for his creative angles, authoring features you might not otherwise expect from this often-conservative publication.

Tristin Hopper is a reporter whose name you're familiar with if you read the National Post. Most know this Edmontonian for his creative angles, authoring features you might not otherwise expect from this often-conservative publication.

Some of my favourite things he's written were a 2017 piece where he called CBC Comedy "the worst crime against humour this country has ever committed", and more recently one where he explored the question "Would Canadian gun laws have stopped America’s worst mass shooters?".

He's got a national platform for his often-edgy features but recently found international acclaim for holding a Simpsons-themed dinner party. He served a number of dishes inspired by the animated series and some of his tweets about it went viral thanks to some online news sites. Mashable picked it up, Ireland's The Irish News wrote about it, as did Australia's number one news site, News.com.au.

The idea of a Simpsons dinner party is neat, but what really caught my attention is what he's dubbed "the largest Rice Krispie square in Canada". It's... well... the largest Rice Krispie square in Canada as far as we know.

Tristin tells me he constructed the thing using seventeen 640 gram boxes of Rice Krispies and twenty 400 gram bags of marshmallows. With two pots on the stove going at a time, over 6 hours, he filled an 18"x18"x18" U-Haul box with goopy, Krispie goodness.

It may not officially be the largest square ever constructed as there were no Guinness officials present, but if you have ever seen (or do ever see) one larger I would like to hear from you.
