A random quick pick ticket has resulted in a major windfall for a Tsawwassen couple.
Christina Sevenoaks and her husband Tim are $7 million richer after matching all six numbers (11, 12, 19, 24, 28 and 46) in the March 28 BC Lotto 6/49 draw.
She purchased the ticket from Thrifty Foods in Tsawwassen.
The couple have lived in South Delta for 12 years with Christina a regular 6/49 player, but she admits she doesn’t have any special numbers.
She said she has won smaller prizes before, free plays and a dollar or two, but nothing this big.
“I found out last Thursday morning. It was total disbelief. I couldn’t believe it. I lost all feeling in my legs,” she said. “We’ve told very close friends and our immediate family. They are all very happy for us and say we are very deserving. It’s been amazing.”
The couple have some plans for their winnings including buying a new house, a new truck and a pet dog for their son.
“My son has always wanted a dog, but we could never have one living in an apartment,” she added. “Now we can once we buy our new home.”
They also plan to enjoy some world travels with adventures planned in Australia and New Zealand.
Delta has been a hotbed of sorts for lotto winners in the past few years.
A group of 15 work colleagues split a $1 million prize in the Dec. 24, 2016 Lotto 6/49 draw, another $1 million prize was claimed by a Delta resident in early January 2016, while five months later, a Delta couple won $1 million in a June Lotto 6/49 draw.
