GIANTS OF THE FOREST – JESSE MORROW

March 20, 2013
One November morning, some friends were over for breakfast. Could of been oatmeal, or maybe pancakes, but either way the company was good. A new face in the house, Jesse Morrow, was visiting from south of the border. At the end of the meal, we happened to look out to the back deck and saw a lovely fall scene, the sun was still low in the sky; the deck covered with leaves, and a single chair oddly positioned. I thought “dang it would be nice to film a giants video right now”, and then within a couple minutes, Jesse was out there in the cold, tuning up the guitar. This sweet song filled the backyard for about half an hour, and by the end he was satisfied, we finished up breakfast and he was on his way back home.We thank him dearly for lending us his time and this wonderful song.

“When She Goes” will appear on Jesse’s new album “Things I Might Lose” coming out April 9, 2013.

GIANTS OF THE FOREST – EPISODE TWELVE

March 19, 2013
Hello dear old friend. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to share a nugget of niceness with you. Work keeps us all busy as you’d imagine the busiest of bees to be. However, sometimes a moment presents itself, and you find the time to capture something sweet to share. The moment that presented itself to us, was a beautiful fall day, and a new friend visiting Vancouver. We held onto this little autumn morning gem, and let’s blame the recent sunny days for inspiring us to share it. Check back tomorrow for our new episode of Giants of the Forest, with a wonderful gentleman from just south of the border, named Jesse Morrow.

GIANTS OF THE FOREST – SHANE KOYCZAN

May 30, 2012
We’re pleased to revisit this project again after a very busy few months for Amazing Factory, and we had to do something different and special for our first Giants of The Forest episode back. We were very fortunate to have the chance to film the amazing spoken word artist, Shane Koyczan. He made a quick call and the lovely people at the Vogue Theatre allowed us to come in and film it in their beautiful space.

This is a different approach from other episodes. We changed up the style for this one, all in the name of awesome. Shane is an incredibly gifted artist, and usually you’d see him perform these pieces from a stage in front of a crowd. Today we have just him, in an empty theatre, speaking directly to you. The lack of music and sounds, and the immense empty space, makes this feel all the more intimate, and personal. You can’t help but see Shane’s good heart, and his genuine & warm personality when he speaks. Thankful that we got to meet such an incredible dude and artist, and thankful we get to share this with all of you.

Here’s Shane Koyczan, with his poem “More Often Than Sometimes.”

GIANTS OF THE FOREST – EPISODE ELEVEN

May 28, 2012
Hello old friends! Everyone at Amazing Factory has been working like crazy little worker bees on a number of projects, which meant we had to put a hold on Giants Of The Forest videos for a bit. We’ve been really fortunate to create and release some videos for amazing acts, including but not limited to: Hey Ocean, Said The Whale, Young Liars, Colin James, and more! It’s been a crazy few months, and we are really pleased to be able to take the time to revisit this little project we love so much. We had to do something different for our first episode back, and we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to make this one happen. We are releasing a video this Wednesday, that we filmed barely a week ago in an empty Vogue Theatre, featuring the incomparable spoken word artist, Shane Koyczan.

In this poem, “More Often Than Sometimes,” he says “There’s something beautiful in stating the obvious. All of us do it in those moments when we can’t believe, we have to say it.” If you’ve ever had the opportunity to see Shane perform live, you’ll know that words like: phenomenal, inspiring, mind-blowing, enthralling… don’t even come close to fully describing him. In fact, the thought of trying to describe the performance of an amazing poet like Shane Koyczan, leaves me at a complete loss for words. I could not do it justice. So instead, we’ll thrust this video out to the world to say “look at this! Listen to this man. He is amazing.” We hope you come back here on Wednesday, and we hope you enjoy it. In the meantime, get to know this phenomenal talent:

GIANTS OF THE FOREST – FIELDS OF GREEN

November 18, 2011
We are very happy to present Episode Ten of Giants Of The Forest, featuring none other than Fields Of Green. This band consists of some of our favorite dudes in the whole world, and they also happen to be insanely talented. They were part of this year’s Top 20 for the Peak Performance Project, and definitely earned a lot of new fans in the process. If you didn’t catch them then, we hope they get your attention now. Bands like this are why we love to have this series of videos; so we can showcase some amazing talent you may or may not have heard of, and get you hooked on them as much as we are. So don’t stop after you watch this video. Head over to their website and facebook and listen to their music, and watch their epic video blogs. And if you’re in Vancouver on Saturday December 10th, go see them play at the Rio Theatre. However, you should consider purchasing your tickets in advance. Not only does this show have Fields of Green, but also Treelines, and We Are The City. It’s also all ages, and only $15 in advance, so … get into it.

Now onto the video! It was a beautiful and actually really hot September Saturday up in West Kelowna where we filmed this video with Kyle & Connor. It was a pretty awesome morning we spent up the hill in Glenrosa, where we were surrounded by the charred silhouettes of burnt trees, with new grass and plants bringing life back to the forest. We hope you enjoy this new song by Fields of Green, being played in the sunshine.

GIANTS OF THE FOREST – EPISODE TEN

November 17, 2011
Hello friends! It’s been far too long since our last episode. We’ve been very very busy with lots of exciting projects at Amazing Factory, some of the videos you may have seen already, and lots more to be released over the next few months. We did make time this September to film another installment of Giants of the Forest, and it’s now ready to share with you all this Friday! This episode will feature some old and dear friends of ours, Fields of Green. They’re a talented group of young gentlemen from Kelowna, who were recently part of the Peak Performance Project Top 20. They’re gearing up to record this fall, and we cannot wait to hear it all.

We filmed this one on a sunny September day up in Kelowna. We all walked up a hill in the Glenrosa area of West Kelowna, surrounded by trees charred by a forest fire that swept through. Connor and Kyle made time to play us a beauty of a new song. Come back tomorrow to check it out! But for now, head on over to their site to take a listen, and check out their hilarious and epic video blogs.
