GIANTS OF THE FOREST – FIELDS OF GREEN

November 18, 2011
We are very happy to present Episode Ten of Giants Of The Forest, featuring none other than Fields Of Green. This band consists of some of our favorite dudes in the whole world, and they also happen to be insanely talented. They were part of this year’s Top 20 for the Peak Performance Project, and definitely earned a lot of new fans in the process. If you didn’t catch them then, we hope they get your attention now. Bands like this are why we love to have this series of videos; so we can showcase some amazing talent you may or may not have heard of, and get you hooked on them as much as we are. So don’t stop after you watch this video. Head over to their website and facebook and listen to their music, and watch their epic video blogs. And if you’re in Vancouver on Saturday December 10th, go see them play at the Rio Theatre. However, you should consider purchasing your tickets in advance. Not only does this show have Fields of Green, but also Treelines, and We Are The City. It’s also all ages, and only $15 in advance, so … get into it.

Now onto the video! It was a beautiful and actually really hot September Saturday up in West Kelowna where we filmed this video with Kyle & Connor. It was a pretty awesome morning we spent up the hill in Glenrosa, where we were surrounded by the charred silhouettes of burnt trees, with new grass and plants bringing life back to the forest. We hope you enjoy this new song by Fields of Green, being played in the sunshine.

GIANTS OF THE FOREST – EPISODE TEN

November 17, 2011
Hello friends! It’s been far too long since our last episode. We’ve been very very busy with lots of exciting projects at Amazing Factory, some of the videos you may have seen already, and lots more to be released over the next few months. We did make time this September to film another installment of Giants of the Forest, and it’s now ready to share with you all this Friday! This episode will feature some old and dear friends of ours, Fields of Green. They’re a talented group of young gentlemen from Kelowna, who were recently part of the Peak Performance Project Top 20. They’re gearing up to record this fall, and we cannot wait to hear it all.

We filmed this one on a sunny September day up in Kelowna. We all walked up a hill in the Glenrosa area of West Kelowna, surrounded by trees charred by a forest fire that swept through. Connor and Kyle made time to play us a beauty of a new song. Come back tomorrow to check it out! But for now, head on over to their site to take a listen, and check out their hilarious and epic video blogs.

Giants of the Forest – Zachary Lucky

July 8, 2011
We are incredibly honoured and excited to share this next video with you. It’s another one that has been in the works for a while, and finally, the stars aligned and we were able to coordinate schedules.

This episode features Zachary Lucky, a great man from Saskatoon, who’s life basically consists of traveling this beautiful country and playing dang sweet music. Luckily we were able to snag a session with him as he passed through Vancouver.

So we set up in the forest near UBC, and among slugs, bees and joggers, Zach serenaded us with a beautiful tune called “Back in the Fall.”

Zachary has become a good friend of ours and it gives us oh so much pleasure to be able to share his talent with you. To find out more about this gentleman, and to find out when and where he is playing, mosey on over here!

You can also check out some great photos from the shoot taken by Elissa Crowe here!

Giants Of The Forest – Hey Ocean!

May 26, 2011
We are very pleased to present to you, Episode Eight of Giants of The Forest, with Vancouver’s Hey Ocean! It was chilly and breezy on that cliff overhanging the ocean as the sun was setting, but we didn’t really mind it because we got to listen to some happy harmonies. We’ve been hoping to do a Giants Of The Forest video with these lovely people right from the beginning, so we’re really thankful to have had this opportunity, and get to know these sweet sweet hearts. We got to film a video for Dave Vertesi last year, and we even filmed a special duet with Ashleigh this February too. This is the first time we got to hang out with Dave, Dave, & Ashleigh all together as Hey Ocean! and we hope it’s not the last. Enjoy this NEW song from them called “Big Blue Wave” from their album they’re currently working on, and prepare to catch yourself singing this to yourself many times today, or singing it really loud. Why not? And if this video makes you think, “I would love to hang out near the ocean and trees and listen to them play live” well you totally can! They’re playing at Summer Live this July 10th in Stanley Park as part of the celebrations for Vancouver’s 125th birthday. Much love to you Hey Ocean!

Giants of The Forest – The Never Surprise

April 27, 2011
As promised, we’re pleased to present Episode Seven of Giants Of The Forest, featuring the talented, and hilarious men called The Never Surprise, accompanied by the also talented and hilarious, Robbie Driscoll. It was a crisp afternoon outdoors, and there was an unnecessary number of mosquitos, but those elements were overshadowed by the beautiful eagles overhead, sunbeams cutting through the ceiling of the forest, and how much these guys made us laugh in-between filming. So grab a warm cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy The Never Surprise performing their song “The Old New Game” in the beautiful sunshine-y woods of Delta. Listen to some more of their sweet tunes at their bandcamp page here. Then mark your calendar for May 5th because they’re having their CD release party at the Railway Club. Click here for the facebook event.

Giants Of The Forest – Episode Seven

April 25, 2011
We’ve missed you! We’re back with another episode of Giants Of The Forest to share with you. We’ve had a busy spring! Josh went on tour with We Are The City filming for 45 days. Joe spent another 17 days on Midway Island lending his sweet camera operating and cinematography skills once again for this unreal documentary, read more about it here and check out this incredible piece Joe filmed and edited on his last trip to Midway. We’re all pretty proud of Joe, can you tell? We also had a couple screenings of our project “We Are The City’s High School, a video series” which you can read about here. Pretty busy and inspiring few months!

Somehow in that time, we managed to film a new Giants of The Forest video right before Joe left for Midway. We ventured out to the Delta Watershed forest. Beautiful sunshine, whistling eagles overhead, a few pestering bugs, and lots of laughs equals a pretty awesome way to spend a couple hours outdoors.

Wednesday, we’ll be posting a video for our new friends, The Never Surprise who were joined by the talented banjo playing, nice shoe wearing, Robbie Driscoll.

We’ll see you on Monday! In the meantime, head on over to The Never Surpirse’s band camp page.
