The Hope in Shadows 2015 calendar was just released! If you’re not familiar, it’s a community project based around a photo contest and calendar for low-income residents of the Downtown Eastside. The contest takes place in June when 200 cameras are distributed and it’s around this time when vendors are seen selling them in the streets. Selling the calendar is an opportunity for them to earn extra income, connect with a community, to practice and develop skills, build work experience, and open the door to other opportunities.
Buying one of these as a gift for a friend (or heck, for yourself) is the gift that gives twice as it not only nets a great calendar with images from the community, as well as helping those living in that very community. Learn all about this year’s calendar at hopeinshadows.com.
