Crowdsourced Sunday Volume Twenty

February 5, 2012

Welcome to Crowdsourced Sunday, a curated batch of photos from our Twitter followers.

On Saturdays we send out some tweets from our @VIAwesome account, asking our followers to tweet us photos of interesting things from their day. We then gather everything up in this blog post to share with you. Saturday morning involved lots of fog and sun, if that makes sense…the city looked pretty epic and you guys captured it! Then you sent in some great shots of your activities…make sure to do the same next week!

@BuffyAybars:
Waking up was rough this morning.

Snowshoeing on Seymour!

February 1, 2012

My trusty sidekick and I got the chance last night to trek through the showshoe trails on Mount Seymour in the evening and eat chocolate fondue in a snow-lounge. It was such a blast I wanted to share the photos with you. The snow up there right now is AMAZING and the guided tour was really cool (she showed us the pine needles that you could eat for Vitamin C) and I even spotted hare tracks in the snow. Magical.

Seymour has a ton of snowshoe trails, which you can take guided or solo, as well as programs like the fondue snowshoe. Check out the website for details!

Scene and Heard: Last Week In Music Vol. 89 ft Craigslist Cantata, Sidney York, The Ruffled Feathers, Treelines, Rain City Chronicles, Reid Jamieson

January 31, 2012
sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city…

Awesome week last week in music for Vancouver, including the first ever Steamwhistle Unsigned show! I also managed to get out and see a PuSh festival play: Do You Want What I Have Got?: A Craigslist Cantata…YOU SHOULD GO SEE THIS! It was hilarious and very entertaining…and it runs until February 11th, so there is still lots of time.

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: will start off with another PuSh Festival event: Making Art Noises at Performance Works on Wednesday w/ Ryan Beil and Charlie Demers!  Thursday you can check out Hilary Grist for free at the CBC for another Toque Sessions show! and I hope you got your seat for the Yukon Blonde one the next day! Also on Friday you can check out this week’s playlist maker, No Sinner, at the Biltmore! Have a great one!

January 24, 2012
sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city…

What a fun week in music here in Vancouver…it saw the return of the Toque Sessions (this one ft Jasper Sloan Yip), an epic CD release for The Mocking Bird (see photos below), and a night at Cafe Montmarte ft Elliot C Way, Craig Mechler, Bob Sumner, Brian Sumner, Matt Campbell & Dave Newberry, Jarred Greff, Andy Bishop and the talented woman that put the whole night together, Missy Donaldson! I missed a few others due to sickness, but I will hopefully recover in time for this week, as it is looking to be awesome…

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: I’m going to see “Do You Want What I Have Got? A Craigslist Cantata”, a play that is part of the PuSh festival, created by Bill Richardson and Veda Hille. Check out the show dates/times here! Thursday the Toque Sessions are back again, this time with David Newberry (click here to see all of the concerts and RSVP ASAP!) at the CBC. After that, head over to the Biltmore for the first Vancouver “Unsigned” concert presented by Steamwhistle…ft Sidney York, Treelines, and The Ruffled Feathers! Friday sees the return of Rain City Chronicles – stories under the theme ‘What Feeds Us” and music by Reid Jameson - get your tickets here! Saturday The Pack AD return from touring with a show at the Rickshaw Theatre!
