I’m a huge fan of long exposure type photography. Love doing it, love looking at it, love everything about it, especially the challenge of it. This photo I found in the Daily Flickr Pickr Pool today is an awesome example of long exposure photography. Love it.

Ok, so after today’s “surprise” dump of snow (which is awesome up on the mountains), I figured that it would be an easy job selecting today’s Daily Flickr Pickr photo choice, ’cause I can always rely on the awesome submissions we get daily. BUT, in today’s selections, I found a super cool photo that has no snow in it, so I went with it instead.

You’ve all heard of the awesome DTES project called Help Portrait, haven’t you? No?! Well lemme fill you in on one of the bestest photo project out there. What it is, in a nutshell, is, a bunch of awesome photographers, hair stylists, and make up artists donate their time, head on down to the Union Gospel Mission in the Downtown Eastside and take portraits of and for people who would never have the opportunity to get professional portraits done. The photos are printed on the spot and given to the subjects.
What an awesome project that benefits so many people. Especially this time of year.

Just on the outskirts of my usual haunt (Gastown), you’ll find Chinatown. Chinatown in Vancouver is an super cool area of downtown Vancouver, full of authentic, old world Chinese boutiques, butchers, restaurants, cafes and bakeries. Sure it’s got a bit of grit to it, but hey, that just adds to character. The buildings there are a treasure to photograph, if you happen to look up now and then. ;)
