Ahhhh…sunshine. Doesn’t it seem SOOO long since we’ve seen the sun and felt it’s warmth for a good sustained period of time? Feels soooo good. :)
I selected this photo from today’s Daily Flickr Pickr pool submissions because it not only depicts the glorious sunshine, and what the good people of downtown Vancouver do when it comes out, but it also shows some of the great architecture of the Art Gallery steps and how they get transformed into a great lounging space when the weather turns good. One of my fave places to sit, coffee in hand, people watching.

I like the main branch building of the Vancouver Public Library. I think they did a good job on it and I really dig the styling. After seeing this image from Basic Elements Photography, I like it even more. It doesn’t hurt that I really dig the show Fringe either. ;)

We renewed our yearly membership to the Vancouver Aquarium recently and are totally stoked about the Penquins that will be debuting on May 18th. Can’t wait to see them!
In the meantime, I, along with you, will have to make due with this awesome photo of the Bill Reid designed Orca sculpture outside of the Aquarium entrance taken by Beaulawrence

You know, the major Vancouver landmarks get a lot of photographer’s attention, and that’s cool and all, but I dig it when someone takes a photo of one of Vancouver’s iconic landmarks or locations from a slightly different perspective. Like this one from today’s Daily Flickr Pickr pool selection from veronique_m titles “untitled”. It’s a photo of Stanley Park taken from what I beleive is the roof of the Vancouver Convention Center. What makes it awesome is that it was taken THROUGH the grass that’s growing on top of the Convention Center, giving the viewer a really cool perspective and conveying a totally different feel to where the photo was taken. From this perspective, it reminds, or informs) the viewer that the roof of the Convention Center is a green space and covered in plant life. Very awesome.
