Game really on!

September 30, 2009

nhl_g_canucks_flames1_576

Tomorrow, the Canucks kick off their 2009-10 season with a visit to Alberta, to play the Calgary (stinkin can’t stand them too bad Fleury didn’t make the team because then we’d have another reason to hate the) Flames.

Can’t believe that we’re on the cusp of another long hockey season… but, that said… get your shoes ready so that you’re able to jump on the bandwagon as quickly as possible!
Here’s the season schedule here.

Go Canucks Go!

Happy Birthday Don Taylor

September 25, 2009

I’m not sure how many of you remember Sports Page on channel 13… but it was the only real sports highlight show on TV, before Sportsnet and TSN were around that is…

The first time I ever watched it, Don Taylor was on deck. 20 something years later, he’s both on the radio, and on Sportsnet daily.

So, for being there for all the highs, and lows in Vancouver sports, I’d like to wish a happy 50th birthday to a Vancouver icon!

Thanks Don!

Places where kids drink HIJACK!

September 21, 2009

I don’t know about most of you but when we went a drinkin when we were in high school it usually revolved around drinking on some damp grass in the dark at school. Seems more rebellious that way. Drinking at school, and on Monday morning, look for who spewed where. A Where’s Waldo vibe…

Russian Invasion

September 15, 2009

I’m probably jinxing myself and the Canucks here… but I’m stoked on our newest Russian player, Sergei Shirokov. Maybe it’s because it’s been so damn long since we had a Russian on the team (Chubarov… where are you?), or maybe it’s because they seem to light it up everywhere else in the league… so why not here.

So, maybe rolling out the welcome mat a little early, but what the hell, I would like to welcome Sergei to the Canucks!
Now go score some goals and do some nasty elbows in the corners!

Sunny fall morning escapes

September 12, 2009

I think Fall gets a bad rap because it follows summer and is before winter… Not a good placing. Spring gets a mulligan because it follows the nastiness of winter and is before the best time… but Fall, it seems destined to lose.
On it’s own, the beginning of Fall is legendary. Sometimes with sunny crisp mornings, quiet skies… a good time for thinking and one of my favorite things, walking through the woods.

One of my favorite places to go in the Fall is Alice Lake. Located on that new awesome highway five minutes past Squamish, it’s a great place to head up to on a day like today.
In the summer, Alice Lake is a hive of activity, with camping and lots of day trippers. In the fall, it is a quiet place to go and bask in nature only 45 minutes from Vancouver.

Vancouver on the BBC

September 10, 2009

Just saw this little ditty on the BBC about Vancouver’s green Olympic Village, which is rad because we are gaining momentum on the international scene.
