Van City Kitty: Meet Fleetwood Stardust!

January 16, 2013

A new kitty once a week! Click here to find out how your cat can appear on Van City Kitty.

Here are the deets on Fleetwood Stardust, submitted by VIA reader : Sarah C!

Name: Fleetwood Stardust (but “Fleetwood” to her friends)
…
Breed/Colouring: Glamorous white with stylish gray splotches
…
Hood: Strathcona; around Georgia and Hawks
…

Habits:  Nuzzling nose into faces, chasing flies, napping, and crying lovely single tears.

Hangouts:  The couch, middle of the floor, Sarah’s belly, and Sarah’s neck.

Favorite Things: Treats, window ledges, cuddle time, mohair, new/unfamiliar shoes or bags, and glasses of fresh water.
…
Other Info:  Sarah met this cat one particularly stressful day at work. They touched noses, and Sarah says, “it was the nicest thing, so I asked if i could have her and it worked out, and I walked her home under my hoodie, and we’ve been tight ever since.”

Fleetwood played xylophone, jammin’ good with Weird and Sarah, the kitties from Mars…

…
Making love with his blanket, Fleetwood sucked up into her mind, like a furry messiah, when the kids had pet the cat we had to break out the treats…

Van City Kity: Meet Bella and Lucy!

January 9, 2013

A new kitty once a week! Click here to find out how your cat can appear on Van City Kitty.

Here are the deets on Bella and Lucy, submitted by VIA reader : Lindsey!

Names: Bella and Lucy
…
Breed/Colouring: They are both Siamese; Bella is the brown one and Lucy is the white one
…
Hood: Kits
…

Habits: Bella loves to sleep and sleep some more. She is very protective of her sleeping habits and if you try to use the bed and disturb her you will definitely be met by a loud growl (don’t worry her growl is all fake, she loves to snuggle and will follow you around until you sit down.) Bella also loves to eat, which is obvious and she is happiest when there is tuna in the house. Her sister (not by birth but by love,) Lucy, is the exact opposite. You can’t settle Lucy down. She is always on the move and has stuff to do, whether that is run up and down the stairs or try to open every door in the house (successfully a lot of the times.) Lucy is a lover too but only after she has run her energy out. She doesn’t mind that Bella eats all her food, she doesn’t have time to eat; things to do things to do!

Hangouts: Bella is found most of the time passed out in front of the fire place, on the bed or asleep on someone’s lap! Lucy loves to hang out all over the place and is most relaxed upside down on her back with legs sprawled out!

Favorite Things: Bella and Lucy both love shoe boxes! Bella’s owner tried to convince her that maybe a larger shoe box (like a boot box) was more her size but she didn’t want to hear it, she can fit in the same box as Lucy just fine thank you! Bella and Lucy also love cat nip although they are currently in recovery from a serious cat nip addiction!

Other Info: These two are lovers and have grown up together after their owner rescued them both separately from an animal shelter (who wouldn’t want these cuties!) They were born in Northern California and moved up to Canada with their owner. While they don’t love the cold weather here, they love having the fire place on all the time!

Bella must be very patient, waiting for her turn in the shoe box!

Van City Kitty: Meet Oliver!

January 2, 2013

A new kitty once a week! Click here to find out how your cat can appear on Van City Kitty.

Here are the deets on Oliver, submitted by VIA reader : Jessica!

Name: Oliver
…
Breed/Colouring:  Domestic Short Hair/Tabby
…
Hood: Oliver currently lives in the Davie Village, though his previous haunt was East Van
…

Habits: Oliver has some good habits and some bad habits.  His good habits include not scratching the hifi speakers and voting with Jessica on the “No playing The Doors before noon on weekends” motion, thereby breaking the tie between her and her boyfriend Alex. His bad habits include running out the condo door to tear up the carpet in the hallway and discretely chewing on and tearing up certain fashion accessories he disapproves of, rendering them to impossible to wear out of the house.

Hangouts:  Solarium with a view of Davie Street, the tub after someone has showered, the dishwasher door, empty boxes.

Other Info: Oliver was a shelterino from C.A.R.E.S in Langley, adopted June 29, 2012. Shortly after adoption, Oliver’s people saw that he would fit much better in The Village than in East Van (despite his taste in beer) and so moved to the more suitable environment. One day, when they came home from work Jessica and Alex discovered that Oliver had turned on the stereo, clearly in the mood for some tunes. Instead of leaving Alex’s Velvet Underground album on, he changed it to the radio. It was Virgin, or The Beat or something else very dancy. He prefers the company of men (Jessica excepted) and thinks you look funny in those oversized plastic frames.

Clearly the dishes are lacking a critical meal ingredient: cat fur.

Oliver has already lived in three neighborhoods.  Here he is posing in front of a bookcase and globe to illustrate his worldliness.

Van City Kitty: Meet Conan!

December 19, 2012

A new kitty once a week! Click here to find out how your cat can appear on Van City Kitty.

Here are the deets on Conan, submitted by VIA reader : Jean!

Names: Conan
…
Breed/Colouring: He’s a grey, beige, and white Maine Coon
…
Hood: Burnaby
…

Habits: Conan loves to try and squish his big Maine Coon body into teeny boxes, sleeping under Jean’s arm, snoring, and sleep-drooling.  He prefers to drink water by dunking his paw and then licking off the water.  He also is in the habit of acting suddenly paranoid or startled when trying to get out of the bathroom.  When he wants to play, Conan will poke at your back until you comply!

Hangouts: Conan will sleep on his big chair any time of the year, but he does have some seasonal favorites!  In the winter he can be found in a box in front of the fireplace, and in the summer under the sofa is a favorite spot.

Favorite Things: Boxes, brushes, and water!

Other Info: He is a five-year-old kitten; he will jump and do a flip to catch objects thrown for him.  He has a huge body with a tiny head, and often resembles a sea otter (I bet he looks hilarious doing the aforementioned flips!) He is very loved; Jean says “It still makes me smile that we found little Conan and brought him home on that night.”

Happy Holidays from Conan!

..And to all a good night!
