VIDEO: A look at some of the best public spaces in the Lower Mainland (via @PWLPartnership)

May 23, 2013

Our friends at the landscape architecture firm PWL Partnership just released this beautiful short that looks at some of their projects they’ve worked on from Yaletown to Coal Harbour, Granville Street to the Village on False Creek, and all the way to New Westminster. As a resident of Vancouver I imagine you’ve probably been to every one of the spaces featured below. Have a poke around their WEBSITE to get some insight into how they came to be, and how they work.

Video produced by New Street Productions, led by Jon Long with music composed by Ben MacDougall.

Trish Friesen from Tripstyler and I are now appearing semi-regularly on Global’s new 24 hour news station, BC1! Every couple of weeks we join Jill Krop on her AM/BC program to discuss travel tips. Trish focuses on an international destination and I’m all about places to visit in BC, in the spirit of my Super, Neighbours feature here on our blog.

In our most recent segment, Trish presented London, England as a destination and I countered with Harrison Hot Springs, BC. Check out the segment below and have a great long weekend, whether you spend it in Vancouver or get out of town.

Scene and Heard: Green Couch Sessions – with Two Hours Traffic

May 4, 2013
SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver.
Green Couch Sessions is a live music video series – experiments in which GCS attempt to marry the artist with the environment.
The music fills the space and the various locations, inevitably producing a sound unique to the session, never to be reproduced, only to be enjoyed by you, the viewers.
VIAindie is excited to partner up with Green Couch to show YOU their latest and greatest videos of musicians and locations from all over the city!
Stay tuned!

Artist: Two Hours Traffic
Song: ‘Audrey’

Two Hours Traffic met us in Yaletown at Goorin Brothers Hat Shop on a dreary day in April.

The boys were still a bit sleepy when we pulled up and understandably so. They have been on the road for the last two months playing both Toronto’s Canadian Music Week and the legendary South by Southwest festival in Austin Texas.

Once we entered the shop the boys perked up and played a little dress-up with the impressive collection of hats that surrounded them. One particular handwoven hat looked so good on Liam that Goorin Bros let him keep it!

This Charlottetown band has been busy and aren’t slowing down anytime soon. Two Hours Traffic embark on their European tour on May 4th in Liverpool, UK

Hosted by: Goorin Brothers Hat Shop

Directed and Edited by Jonathan Krauth
Second Camera Operator Brian Ceci
Audio Engineering by Nimbus School of Recording • Adam Johnson, Krev Mack, Johnny Alvernaz
