#TweettoEat: Day 11

April 26, 2013

I just got home from the most unbelievable James Blake concert, and I actually went with a new friend I met through all this #Tweettoeat stuff! I’m having dinner with him tomorrow, so I will fill you all in then!

Coffee time!

This morning at Bean Around the World at Main and 20th (@BeanonMain20th) I was waiting forever for someone to come in behind me! Finally Ian wandered up to the cash and we surprised/bombarded him with coffee. It was fun.

TO DIE FOR FOOD OF THE WEEK – VOLUME 48

April 25, 2013
Every week I compile a collection of the most mouthwatering food photos that I shot in & around Vancouver. The hashtag #todiefor denotes an item truly knee weakening in flavour. Questions? Tweet me @erinireland

Urban Digs Egg by Burdock & Co. - with hazelnut and blue cheese granola, this is a must-try dish at Chef Andrea Carlson’s brand new locavore restaurant, located at Main & 11th Ave.

Salted Caramel Apple Pot Pie by Burdock & Co. - hands done one of the best desserts I’ve had in a while. This crust is ri-dic-ulous.

#TweettoEat: Day 10

April 25, 2013

There is a quote from activist and farmer, Caesar Chavez:

”If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him…The people who give you their food give you their heart.”

This is becoming more and more apparent to me as the days of my social experiment go on. I learn something remarkable about each person I share food with and sharing food is really what eating should be all about. Nourishing our bodies while we enrich our minds with conversation and warm our hearts with the beauty of others.

Oh, Sweet Beans!

My hump day cup was so sweet today at Bean Around the World at Main and 20th (@BeanonMain20th). I was desperate for some java after a night of a bit of ex boyfriend drama and work stresses (hey, I’m asking people to be open and honest with me, I suppose I need to do the same here)!  I ran to the counter this morning, so quickly in fact that the name of the gorgeous woman behind me completely left my brain! Anyhow, it was really nice to meet you, lovely girl and I’m sorry for having my mind in a fuzz.

I was also blessed to have the gorgeous Christina who owns and operates @WeAgainstGrain where she creates unbelievable granola or should I say ‘Yay-Nola’ (wheat free, and sugar free! It’s sweetened with apple sauce which always makes me happy) & she also gave me some delicious macaroons. You can find her products at the Bakers Market on Saturdays. See the schedule on their website. Christina came all the way from North Vancouver to meet me in the early morning at Bean Around the World, now THAT is kindness right there!

#TweettoEat: Day 9

April 24, 2013

It’s day 9 and I am feeling sad that at the end of this week, I won’t get to meet new people each and every day. Sharing meals with strangers is beautiful and offers such an opportunity to get to know someone. Learning what they like, don’t like and so much about their character. This has been a lovely journey.

Coffee time!

Another day, another cup of delicious Bean Around the World at Main and 20th (@BeanonMain20th) coffee. This morning I met the wonderful Michael! He was so surprised and wanted to know all about #Tweettoeat.

Snacks at work

When I got to work I was immediately tweeted to by Judith who sits right beside me! @JudithTracey tweeted me some delicious organic apples. Needless to say, I was pumped! Thanks Judith!

#TweettoEat: Day 8 – Week 2

April 23, 2013

It’s Monday and the start of week 2. I am sad that this social experiment is half way through, but I’m also incredibly excited for the week that lies ahead. I’ve met some incredible Vancouver humans this week and I am pretty sure this next week will be a lot of the same.

For those of you who don’t know, #TweettoEat is a social experiment. For two weeks, I’m sourcing all of my food from the kindness and generosity of Vancouverites. The point? To showcase the great people we have here in the city, and show others that if you put yourself out there a bit, and go outside of your comfort zone, you can meet some incredible people who can really make your life so much better. At the end of the two weeks I will donate the money I would have spent on groceries to Save on Meats, sandwich token program.

The morning coffee

Another day, another cup of amazing Bean Around the World coffee at Main and 20th (@BeanonMain20th). I got to surprise a gentleman named Chris this morning. He was very sweet and very patient as my iphone camera decided, right at that very moment that it was no longer going to take photos. Luckily I thought quickly and tricked my iphone in to taking a photo with Instagram. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Snacks, lunch and love

My day was full of lunch and snacks from the people who have been so generous over the last week, like @sehmer, @VanVantage, @Metropolisatmet, @androdesign, @Sharon_Lee8 and @kmkrebs
