Thurlow Street is closed from Robson to Davie right now as firefighters work to maintain a blaze that has spread through a building.
The blaze started at approximately 9:00 am on Thursday, October 4th, when Vancouver Fire and Rescue responded to reports of heavy smoke from the 4th floor of a building on the 900 block of Thurlow.
They were able to find the origin of the fire in a suite on the 4th floor, but the smoke had extended through the walls.
The street is closed off until further notice, and there are multiple firetrucks at the scene.
UPDATE 11:12 AM: The 900 block of Thurlow has been issued a fourth alarm. One injured fire fighter is being treated by the BC Emergency Health Services. Crews continue to chase and attack the stubborn fire under challenging conditions, and they expect that the road closures will continue for the next couple of hours. Pets are currently being evacuated from the building.
