Every year, the annual Surrey Tree Lighting Festival lights up Surrey Civic Plaza with festive cheer.
The Mayor will be joined by special guests, including Santa, to light the stunning, 60 foot high Christmas tree. The soaring tree stays lit for the entirety of the holiday season, but the area directly around it is fenced off.
Guests are also invited to meet Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus at the Main Stage in City Hall Plaza as she emcees from 12 pm to 7 pm.
While Santa is a big draw, there are endless things to do at the festival. For example, the BC Lions will be on site for an hour "inflatable" activity as well as an autograph session.
Other fun entertainers at the festival include Warren Dean Flandez, Dawn Pemberton, Rockin Robin & the Magical Christmas Tree, Route 66th Band, Westcoast Harmony Chorus, the Voc Sweet Soul Gospel Choir, and the Langley Ukulele Ensemble.
There's also a Safeway Treat Zone to create your own cookie, a holiday photo station at Coast Capital Savings, vendors, crafts, ice carving demos, a giant snow globe and so much more!
The festival also partners with the Surrey Food Bank, and asks that you bring non-perishable food items in order to donate.
