Archie, the fluffy orange and white cat who was friendly with folks in Mount Pleasant has died.
Archie was the shop cat at Bikes For All, a bicycle shop at 112 East 7th Avenue near where Kingsway feeds into the Mount Pleasant Industrial Area. He became a fixture in the area, greeting people in the shop and exploring the area outside.
He was so friendly he was even listed as a tourist attraction on Google Maps for a spell, though the listing was removed.
However, he was still a popular sight with the neighbourhood's locals.
On July 17, he died after being hit by a vehicle.
Bikes For All management has posted a memorial video to Archie.
"Rest easy lil floof," reads the caption.
In a message to V.I.A. they say he was crossing the street when he was hit by a car. They note that speeding is common in the area, which is supposed to be a 30 km/h zone.
Archie was seven years old.
Very sad news. 💔

We are all struggling with this right now. He was lovely, everyone’s friend.
Condolences to the Bikes For All folks who loved him so and all of Vancouver and the tourists who came out over the years to see him. pic.twitter.com/EKgEPnYsMB
