Loblaw Companies Limited says that an employee working at a Shoppers Drug Mart in Langley has tested positive for COVID-19.

On Sept. 4, Loblaw confirmed that a team member who works at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 20678 Willoughby Town Centre Drive in Langley tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 . The last day the team member worked was on Aug. 29.

Loblaw regularly updates its COVID-19 page with all positive COVID-19 cases in its stores, by province, in the last 15 days. However, it will not release any personal information about employees.

Last month, multiple Shoppers Drug Mart locations issued notices that a team member at each store tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 is spread by respiratory droplets when a person who is sick coughs or sneezes. It can also be spread when a healthy person touches an object or surface (e.g. a doorknob or a table) with the virus on it, and then touches their mouth, nose or eyes before washing their hands. Most people who get COVID-19 have only mild disease, but a few people can get very sick and may need to go to hospital. The symptoms of COVID-19 may include fatigue, loss of appetite, fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, loss of smell and/or diarrhea.

If you visited either of the affected locations and believe you may have been infected, it is recommended you self-isolate and monitor for symptoms. If you have symptoms, testing is available - and has been expanded recently in both the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions.
