A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of a murdered teen.
Ashley Wadsworth was killed in London, UK earlier this week, sending shockwaves through her home town of Vernon.
A GoFundMe has been set up by friend Jadine Wakefield to help bring Ashley home.
“In times of crisis and loss sometimes we struggle to find the words or what we can do to help our friends, family and loved ones during devastating heartbreak,” Wakefield wrote on the page.
“This is one small gesture I can do to hopefully help ease the financial strains the well-known and loved Wadsworth family of Vernon are challenged with to bring their beautiful Ashley home from England to say their final goodbyes.”
Wakefield said her friend's “spontaneous and witty personality, along with her unforgettable laugh, brought so much joy to those around her.”
Ashley’s sense of adventure took her many places including Quebec, California, Mexico, Ontario and England as she had a strong desire to travel the world.
Wakefield said Ashley was also “very studious,” graduating on the honour roll at WL Seaton Secondary School, spoke three languages and had dreams of becoming a lawyer.
“Every mother and father wish the best for their children as they spread their wings and enter the world. They want them to live their best life. Ashley was doing just that, and that’s how we want to remember her,” Wakefield said, adding there is a “tremendous” cost associated with bringing Ashley home to her family and every donation will help.
Jack Sepple, 23, is charged with her murder.
